Even the best dressing or technology can't make up for poor understanding at home. Patients
who understand the "why" behind their wound care plan are far more likely to follow it
correctly and recognize problems early[2][3][4].
During a Vitality Mobile Wound Care visit, we take time to explain:
• Why your wound developed (for example, diabetes, poor circulation, pressure, or
swelling)
• How often your dressing should be changed—and how to keep it clean and dry
• What infection warning signs to watch for: increased redness, warmth, odor,
drainage, or pain
• When to call us or seek emergency care
• Lifestyle steps that support healing, such as nutrition, blood sugar control, and
smoking cessation[2][3][4]
This education turns patients and caregivers into active partners in the healing process, which
is one of the most powerful tools we have for preventing amputations, repeat hospital stays,
and wound recurrence[2][3][4].
